I Park:
[formerly EightMile Gardens], a New American garden park taking
form in rural East Haddam, Connecticut, was conceived as a place
of civerant beauty - conducive to creative thought and designed
to inspire purposeful artistic and intellectual endeavors. Here,
guests will find wild and improbable gardens, a memorial park,
unusual performing arts facilities and, for visiting artists,
on-site residence and studio facilities.
The Hall Farm
Center for Arts & Education: a 221- acre retreat in Townshend,
Vermont that provides an environment for artists, educators and
students to investigate, experiment, collaborate and create. Direct
support for working artists is provided through summer residencies
at Hall Farm, where they can devote sustained attention to their
creative endeavors.
The Macdowell Colony:
Located in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. The MacDowell
Colongy facilitates a balance between social interaction and focus
on work. Private studios, dining and recreation rooms at Colony
Hall.
The autonomy and privacy of the resident artists are valued, studios
are visited by invitation only and although breakfast and dinner
are served in the dining hall, lunch is delivered to the individual
studios allowing for long stretches of uninterupted creativity.
In the evening there are offered a number of activities such as
readings, slide shows, open studios, and informal performances
that allow the residents to become acquainted with and inspired
by one another's work. The maximum length of residence is two
months; an average stay is four weeks. There are between 20 and
30 artists at MacDowell at any given time; arrivals and departures
are ongoing. The cost of artists residencies are paid for through
fundraisings.
The CAC (Contemporary Artists
Center) offers a combination of studio space, artists
facilities, and exhibition space. Residency opportunities at the
CAC serve as affordable retreats for artists, providing space,
equipment, and a creative environment for artists to live and
concentrate on their work. Equipment and facilities include printing
presses, darkroom and fully stocked woodworking facilities. Established
in 1990 by working artists for working artists the CAC is located
in the heart of the Berkshires, North Adams, MA.
